Milanese: all things Milan

Milan has a new phrase that he uses that I just know is going to catch on. Tim and I have started using it just because Milan says it so much, and it is really quite useful.

"Little minute" is his phrase, somewhere in-between "a little bit" and "just a minute". He uses it in sentences such as "Let's stay here just a little minute" or, if asked to do something (pick up toys, make a trip to the bathroom, etc) he'll respond with "in a little minute." Try it in your conversation today. It is going to catch on, I just know it.

Here are a few other recent pieces of Milan-related news:
  • Now that Milan is wearing underwear all day (except for naps and bedtime), all of his pants fall down without the added padding of the diaper to hold them up.
  • Milan was the proud owner of a pet rabbit for about 3 hours last week. When the babysitter showed up so Tim and I could go to Chinese class, she brought a white rabbit in a box. Milan was upset that I was leaving, the rabbit excitement calmed him down, I thought okay they can play with the rabbit while we're gone, no harm. I hadn't anticipated that this was a gift! When we came home the babysitter started telling me how to take care of the rabbit! I told her I don't want a rabbit in the house, and she said we could just let it go outside. Which we did about 20 minutes later. Yes, I feel a little bad about sending the poor albino rabbit to its certain death, but really, I do not need a rabbit to take care of. The goldfish, another gift from the babysitter, are enough for us to worry about right now. This morning Milan asked me if we could go look for the little white rabbit, and after having read a review of the new Alice in Wonderland movie last night I was a little confused about what he was talking about. He wasn't upset about the rabbit release at all and hasn't even asked about it until today, a week later.
  • Milan has become more and more attached to a pink and orange sock cat that I made over a year ago. Huckle Cat is the favorite bedtime companion, and Milan loves to pick his sock-fur while reading bedtime stories and falling asleep.

  • The kid needs a haircut, as you can see from the above picture. I was using the excuse that the Chinese say it is bad luck to have your hair cut during the first lunar month of the New Year, but maybe I am just being lazy. I kind of like the soft shaggy look these days.
  • Enough with the rain already. Another week of cold drizzle. Today we went to play with the giant chess set at school to get out of the house.
